Google Maps Feature, Previously Exclusive to iOS, Now Accessible for Android Users
Sometimes it’s really weird to see that some of Google’s iOS apps are more feature-rich than their Android counterparts, although that’s rarely the case. One such feature is the availability of weather information in the Google Maps iOS app.
However, Google has now brought this feature to the Android app as well, as spotted by 9to5Google. The Google Maps app for Android now includes a small rectangular box in the upper left corner of the screen below the search bar. Said box contains important information, including the area’s temperature and air quality index, and even indicates whether rain, snow, and more are expected.
The report adds that when you tap this box, it expands to reveal even more weather-focused information about the location. Plus, it’s constantly changing as you move around the map.
This has been a staple of the Google Maps iOS app, and it’s great to see it finally coming to Android as well. This feature can be useful when you want to see weather conditions without leaving the Google Maps app, especially when traveling.
As for the rollout, according to 9to5Google, this Android update has already started rolling out to users, with version 11.113.x of the app bringing even wider availability. So update your Google Maps app and if it still doesn’t show up, close it or wait for it to show up.
